ΑVAX – Ghella – Alstom consortium declared provisional lowest bidder for Line 4 of Athens Metro

PRESS RELEASE

The consortium led by AVAX, offering a discount of 12.19% is declared provisional lowest bidder of the project. The offer concerns the construction of the first phase of Line 4 of the Athens Metro, more specifically the Alsos Veikou – Goudi section. The project, budgeted at €1.8 billion, is the largest infrastructure project currently planned in the European Union and will radically change commuting in the Athens metropolitan area.

Mr Konstantinos Mitzalis, managing director of AVAX stated: “This is undoubtedly a landmark project, not only in terms of upgrading the quality of life and commuting for the capital city’s residents, but also for the key role that infrastructure projects can play in Greece’s course towards economic growth. From AVAX’s point of view, we are proud, as the evaluation of our technical offer, along with our competitiveness in terms of the financial bid, proves once again our great potential. I would like to warmly thank all those who have participated in the project so far, for their dedication and efforts”.

It is reminded that the AVAX – Ghella – Alstom consortium is also constructing the extension of Athens Metro Line 3 to Piraeus, which is expected to be completed in 2022, three stations of which were made available to the public last July. Specifically, these are the stations of Agia Varvara, Korydallos and Nikaia.
