The Psyttalia Outfall is part of the broader project of the transportation, treatment and disposal of the greater Athens area sewage. It consists of three submarine outfall pipelines which convey the treated sewage to the marine disposal area.
The project consists of two deep diffusion pipelines each with a length of 1,900m length and a diameter of 2.95m laid at a depth of 63m; and one short emergency outfall with a length of 400m, a diameter of 2,950m laid at a depth of 44m.
The pipelines were cast in lengths up to 9m and pre-stressed into 72m- long sections.
