The 1500MW Bismayah Phase II combined cycle power plant is located in southeastern Baghdad, next to the Bismaya housing project.
The objective of this project is to extend the power plant by two proven combined cycle power blocks in accordance with international standards for independent power production. The simple cycle phase 2 of the plant will consist of four pcs GE 9FA 3 – series gas turbines and all auxiliaries.
The combined cycle part of phase II consists of: four heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), two steam turbines, two air -cooled condensers and the equipment and systems required to make the plant a safe, reliable, efficient combined cycle power generating facility. The project delivered 1000MW in the Simple Cycle Phase in summer 2018. Combined Cycle Phase was completed in February 2020 .
